1982 Plymouth Sapporo #07290
Date of Manufacture: November 1981
Acquired: October 2003 with 130,000 miles
This car was part of a set of nine Mitsu-Mopars that I bought in Grainfield,
Kansas in October 2003.
In the photo below, 07290 is about to tow the 1978 Dodge Colt which I
drove to Grainfield from Des Moines, Iowa.
Visible in the building ahead is the yellow 1976 Dodge Colt which I also
bought as part of the Kuntz collection.
I drove this '82 Sapporo lightly for about a year, then stored it from 2004 to 2019. Fifteen years.
In July of 2019 I brought the vehicle online.
After several increasingly stressful test drives, it is released to make the trek to home base.
Unfortunately, the storage building was not bird-proof, so the horizontal
surfaces of the car were badly stained.
Here it is just outside the building in which it was sheltered for 15 years.
And the right side:
The 1976 Colt seen in the topmost photo is also visible in this one.
Sadly,
that car
is slated for dismantling.
The car makes its maiden voyage in this new phase of its life.
Backing into the driveway, July 13, 2019:
The car cleaned up fairly well, but the bird stains are not going away.
The Mama kitty is already exploring the new metal shelter.
Cruelly, there is still pretty good clearcoat on the vertical surfaces.
Four days after bringing the Sapporo home, a tree branch broke
and the car barely escaped damage.
Definitely dodged a bullet there.
Overall, I ran into few problems getting this car on the road.
Fuel system was not a problem.
Brakes were not a problem, though a complete overhaul is still prudent.
I got personalized plates 82SPORO.
